Peroxide-Cured EPDM Material

Chemical Peroxide Vulcanized EPDM Cable compounds EPDM Granules

This insulating material is made of high-purity resin as the base material, with reinforcing agent, antioxidant, etc. mixed and extruded into granules.

It has excellent properties such as heat resistance and weather resistance, no precipitation pollution, meets the relevant requirements of Rohs, etc., and is easy to extrude and process.

Application Areas:

Manufacturing of cables such as submersible oil pump power cables and electrical power cables.

Details

Chemical peroxide-cured EPDM (ethylene-propylene-diene monomer rubber) particles are widely used。

Chemical Peroxide-Cured EPDM Mainly Including The Following Aspects

  • Automotive industry: used to manufacture various seals, shock absorbers, dust covers, radiator hoses, etc. for automobiles, because these parts need to maintain stable performance in high temperature environments.

  • Construction industry: used to produce weather-resistant seals, door and window seals, roof waterproof membranes, etc., which need to be exposed to various climatic conditions outdoors for a long time.

  • Wires and cables: used to manufacture high-temperature and chemical-resistant cable insulation layers, especially in situations where flexibility and heat resistance are required.

  • Aerospace: In the aerospace field, it is used to manufacture non-structural parts such as seals and gaskets inside aircraft, which need to maintain performance under extreme temperatures and pressures.

  • Industrial applications: used to manufacture seals, hoses and protective covers in various industrial equipment, which need to maintain reliability in high temperature and chemical corrosion environments.

  • Medical devices: In medical devices, EPDM materials can be used to manufacture parts of certain medical devices due to their biocompatibility and high temperature resistance.

  • Sports and leisure: used to manufacture surface materials for sports venues, seals for swimming pools and other outdoor leisure facilities, which require materials to have good weather resistance and aging resistance.

  • Power industry: used to manufacture insulating parts in power equipment, such as cable joints and insulating sheaths, which need to work stably under high temperature and high pressure environments.

These applications of peroxide cross-linked EPDM materials demonstrate their diversity and importance in modern industry. Through peroxide cross-linking, the performance of EPDM materials has been significantly improved, enabling them to meet a variety of demanding application requirements.

Key Characteristics

① High Heat Resistance

Achievable application grades of 90℃ / 105℃ / 125℃

Good thermal stability of the peroxide system, no vulcanization reversion

② Stable Electrical Properties

High insulation resistance

Low dielectric loss

Maintains insulation integrity under high temperature and high humidity environments

③ Excellent Mechanical Properties

Good elasticity and flexibility

High elongation, tear resistance, and abrasion resistance

Suitable for environments with frequent bending or mechanical vibration

④ Strong Resistance to Environmental Aging

Excellent resistance to ozone, UV radiation, and oxidation

Suitable for long-term outdoor cables

⑤ Flame Retardant/Halogen-Free Formulas Available (Optional)

Flame retardant ratings of VW-1, FT1, or IEC can be met depending on the supplier's formula. Halogen-free formulas can meet RoHS and REACH standards.

⑥ Stable Extrusion Processing

Uniform granules, suitable for conventional rubber/cable extruders

Smooth surface, not prone to bubbles, good extrusion molding properties

Application Areas

1) Low-voltage wire and cable insulation: Household wires, industrial equipment control lines, computer room wiring harnesses

2) Cable sheaths: Industrial rubber cables, outdoor mobile flexible cables, mechanical equipment cables

3) Automotive wiring harnesses (low-voltage areas): Wiring in areas requiring heat/ozone resistance

4) Internal wiring for solar/photovoltaic equipment: Wiring inside distribution cabinets, junction boxes, and inverters (non-main lines)

5) Environmentally resistant locations such as oil fields and mines: EPDM is inherently weather-resistant and suitable for harsh outdoor environments

6) Wiring in high-temperature areas such as motors and compressors

Common Application Standards

Formulations can be customized to meet:

  • UL 105℃ or 125℃ wire standards

  • VW-1 flame retardant

  • IEC 60245 / 60227 (rubber-insulated wires)

  • RoHS, REACH halogen-free requirements (optional)
